Novak trays are pretty nice, adjustable height and easy to mount.

as for a motor mount- make your own.

1/8'' or 1/4'' 1x1 angle aluminum, a drill with a 1/8in or 9/64in bit for motor mounting screws. then a 1/4 or 17/64 bit for the shaft holes.

drill holes in a strait line and dremel out the excess material for slots.

Its pretty simple

I was wondering how this mount would even hold up "looks to be casted/to thin and not worth buying"- http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...od=ose-drmount

It would be neat if they made these in 36mm dia- http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...jwr-mount-flat

Ben you could probably hook up AD with your old custom mount.

Novak trays for sure. Motor mount will either be custom or the kershaw one. That is pending...

I originally had a single brake disk, which broke. My second set was the HPI dual disk conversion set. One of the disks shattered, and they do not sell replacements unless I want to buy the entire kit over.

Who makes the best brakes? Integy sells some graphite ones, and some steel. HPI sells steel? What about 1 disk vs 2? Or even 3?

Need help, got money burning a hole in my pocket. THX

If you want to call this an update. today (thursday) the tires/wheels came along with the $30 motor. might just be me, but the stance looks wider...

Looks good. Why not just get that 100a car ESC that's on hobbycity now?

Which one is that?

I am debating how cool my planned setup will run....... was just reading a thread with a 8s Savage and how good it runs. Debating if i should've gone with more volts. the power of 5s should be plenty on a 2spd, but not sure on temps. Thinking it will run cold, but the motor is unsure. The plane esc i want is rated at 100A, but up to 12s. Which means, that if something was to go wrong, just buy another battery and run 6-10s Neu/medusa or even Kb45.

I was shopping for parts for my transmission... couldn't find a steel 2nd gear. I opened it up. found 3 gears in the center, one medium, one small, and the center one was the largest. then some gears on top, and bottom. seems pretty complicated, but not sure how i could get my hands on a metal one. I like the idea of a single speed, but from the way i see it, a 2speed will run cooler, and have better performance.

And 4s will not move a savvy around very well.

I would just buy a decent speed control. I have a feeling you may have issues with a 100 amp hv plane speed control running it on 5s in a MT. I would say to use the HV speed control as a HV speed control and run 8s or more.

Nothing wrong with running 5s, but I think you would benefit from using a car esc, the burst rating of the fets will be higher, and it will handle the abuse better. I would get a MMM and just run a single speed. Much simpler than the 2 speed and mech brakes. I am guessing the 8xl will be enough motor, keep overall speeds under 40mph and it should do fine.

Running a car esc will make it so I dont have to buy pistix adapter, which I couldn't find... Or a new set of mech brakes ($20). That does ruin my entire "budget" plan... Then I will just want a nicer motor later. There is just something about making my car the same as the flux that I don't like...seems...lame. I am fine running single speed, as long as it runs fast, I am good. I thought it would run cooler? And better speeds? Thinking of gearing 15/49......

Makes me thing about this whole "budget setup," and being "unique and more powerful" then a stock truck (Flux).

You're probably right, linc. MMM is the way to go --- trusted, and powerful.

Edit....my K4.1 nitro engine is up to $41 on E-bay. The Xbox and Rc18 I am not worried about, but the motor I am pretty stoked on.

I am going to start a list. The motor I bought limits my battery to a 5s.... which means that if I do decide to upgrade in motor, another 3s pack, (combined with the one I already have) would give me 6s. OR, I could get 6s from the start, run balls-on-the-wall, and when it goes out, get myself a real motor. The way i see it now: The motor has already costed me $30, no reason to spend the price of a 3s on it....

Savage roller - check
Kershaw mount - check
Novak trays (going to drill holes in them and mount) - check
Tower order - misc parts, balancing adapters, wheelie bar, etc. - ____
Zippy 5s (wanted 6s, but due to my motors ideal RPM range being under 40k, that will not happen) - ____
MMM esc - ____
