Time for an update. Have been quite busy latelly and haven't been able to follow the forums.


Just got brand new v3 diffs from post, thanks to nitrostarter Good guy to deal with



Noticed that the rear diff rasps a bit when spinning the main axle side output. Is it just that it's new and haven't breaked in? It's quite noticeable and it comes every second turn of the output.

Should be fine they are tight for a couple of packs....

FYI remove those cups from the outputs and go with the shafts...

Cups are not long enough for CVD's - They will pop out or bend the cvds...

Yep, they were installed when I got them as well. I didn't change them out.

Woa, just changing the shafts to the v3's. No diff oil in them That was a good FYI Arct1k But I guess there's never oils in the new diffs

What oil did tiy use - 7 and 3 would be a good start...

7k and 5k. Then I have 30k and 50k but they are too stiff :P. I ended to a small problem now. I try to fit those cups to the shafts, the traxxas style "lock screw" won't go through. Should I use only short one lock screw in there?

Bad link. Sounds like the cups wont slide on far enough to the output shafts before they bottom out- you may need to grind the ends of the cups a little so they sit closer to the bearings.

Weird, link works for me, even with Explorer. But yes, I thought the grinding too. Thanks! But you do know what screws im talking about? Those long ones where the threads are only about half way.

Have anybody had problem to fit the diff retainer with the front diff? I guess I have to work it a bit to get it in..

Ok, the retainer was a easy fix, but now the rear diff is making some difficulties The whole top plate won't fit there without bending it, weird... There seems to be some compatibility problems with g2r and V3 diff setups. I'll try to bend that plate now, let you guys know what happens

I know what screws you mean though, I use the same ones on my diff outputs to hold the sliders in place.

On the fitment issue, I seem top recall that being normal- the V3 cases are a little bigger than stock revo diffs I think so you tend to have to flex the top plate up a little, though some people said you had to do that anyway with just normal diffs since the G2R chassis is a bit fiddly to fit to the revo front and rear ends. So long as it goes together okay with no big gaps, you should be fine... (famous last words).
