I need monstor motor measurements - 05.08.2009, 07:56 AM

Hi guys, I'm thinking of getting the 2650kv MMM combo, anf replacing the MM in my buggy with the MMM and using the motor in a hydro2 instead of a 6XL, the fins mean I cant just buy a water jacket for it and I will have to make one but as part of the combo the motor isn't much more expensive than a Feiago XL but hopefully more efficient, I haven't been too impressed with the Feigao in by buggy which sure put down the power but got hotter than hell doing so.

Is the V3 a reliable unit now? Although it wont cost me much more it will be a lot of time and effort watercooling it, are the castle MMM Chinese Neus a worthwhile upgrade from a Feiago XL or a Hacker L? How do they compare to real Neus?

I'll have to make up a jacket specially for it but cand find measurements on the castle site and don't know how big it needs to be, can someone take the callipers to one for me please and tell me the smooth cans diameter, the diameter of the fins, the length of the finned area, the length of the smooth can before the endbell at the shaft end and same from the fins to the back endbell and whether it has an protrusions from the can like regular Neus have the screws to hold the rear endbell on, if it has screws, rivets or the like can you measure the length of smooth can from the fins to the front of the screws.

Thank you, Paul

The v3 is as reliable as any other controller on the market. The Motors do not need water cooling and run just as well as the real neu- albeit about 15 degrees warmer. the motor motors run a hundred times better then feigao, much more torque and lower temperatures.

The castle neu is all finned can. dont know why you need to water cool it.

Boats don't have any airflow. You need airflow for any motor.

Thanks for the reasurance about the V3.

Fast Electric boats are sealed water/airtight and I make my boats just big enough to fit the gear and flotation in, so even if I fitted a fan for airflow it has such a small volume of air around it that I would just be blowing the same hot air around much like a fan assisted oven, with the combo it sounds like a good deal at about half the price of a proper Neu either the smooth can or the finned version which have drawings and dimensions for on the Neu site, but as castle don't have drawings or measurements its not worth buying one on the off chance that I can find a tube the right size and will either put the project on hold until next season while I save up for a real Neu or Lehner or buy a 6XL which is also in my present budget even though I was disappointed with my 8XL.

So does anyone have a 2650kv castle motor, a pair of callipers and a spare 5 mins? Metric or Imperial are both fine for me.

I'm thinking of a medusa motor now since I cant find the dimensions for the castle motors, and medusa are free with there dimensional information I even have a spare jacket for a 36mm smooth can, how do these compare to the castle motors?

They're close to the Castle motors, and IMO it would be better because you have the spare jacket. I've run a few of them and they're very good motors for the money.

All I ever wanted was an honest weeks pay for an honest days work.

Never mind about the medusa's they look good but after browsing the shop it looks like they arent available with a KV near 2700 like I am after there's a big gap between 2300 and 3300.

Still looking for monster motor measurements.
