Yes we have been working on a new platform for our 1/8 Buggy/Truggy market for about the last six months. We are in the early stages of testing and things are going well. We will be offering a brand new Speed control with some unique new features and at least two sizes of motor with various Kv ratings that will meet the Roar specs. I can't give a definite delivery date but it will be some time this year.

Good news! Watching "The Big 3" compete for dominance in the 1/8th market is going to be good. Tekin has a good lead on you guys but there are a lot of loyal Novak fans that will be very pleased to get their hands on a more powerful system. No offense but the current HV systems just aren't up to par with the options from Castle and Tekin, I have no doubt the new ones will put up a good fight.

No offense taken. The HV was just a longer version of our 1/10 scale brushless system originally brought out to fill a brushless need for the E- Revo. It sold very well for this application.
We were very busy designing and manufacturing systems for the Crawler market and got a little behind the curve bringing out the bigger System for the 1/8 market but we plan on catching up in a hurry. The HV systems with the new 14mm rotor still work very well on small indoor tracks where you don't need the brute power the bigger motors have.

The 1/8" shaft is just too small for the torque that this rotor puts out plus we would sell very few which wouldn't cover the cost of a production run of 1/8 shafts.

This part kinda made me grimmace a little...anyone have thoughts on what being Roar spec might entail? IMHO, ROAR still has some catching up to do with the technology.

Actually, the Castle 2200kv motor is the only 1/8th scale brushless motor that shows as being approved by ROAR.

The Existing Roar rules simply try to standardize motor specs such as Max Length 77mm, max Stator dia 39mm, mounting holes at 1.00" (25.4mm) and a 5mm or 1/8"output shaft. These rules allow everybody to build both cars and motors that will fit each other. These rules were formulated with the input of most all the Brushless motor manufacturers that are involved with R/C cars.
Give credit were credit is due. I think Roar does a great job in making these kind of rules so that everybody isn't going in different directions.
