I need a middle of the road BL setup for revo...ideas?

IMO the XeRun 80 and a Novak HV motor would be a descent cheap option. Better then an XL, and Be sensored , so the crawling should be smooth. The reliabilty is the question, as the esc is really to new to say.
The MMM combo is hard to beat, it's just if 40 is really all you want, there are cheaper routes. But you'll want more eventually. :)
