Beats me PBO, but the news is stating that the 8.8 is the highest ever recorded. If those were true actual recorded levels I would think that the news would be stating a comparison of some kind. I have never heard of those 9.??? before. If there were reported quakes higher shoot an email to the major news networks so they can fix their mistake.
