Not sure. I guess after reading that it will need more voltage (at least 5s-6s) than the 1520 to perform well.. Or did I read wrong?
Whatever though I'll keep it anyway. I just have so much on my plate atm like bills and crap that affording a descent 6s battery will have to wait.

Given the choice/dilemma I'd grind those shafts baby- 4 months is a long time to sit around whining about something you could fix is less than an hour with basic hand tools & little chance of messing it up ( little by little, check with calipers and/ or the pinion until it fits snuggly ).

i am very prone to screwing stuff up when it comes to making my own mods on stuff, especially motors, batteries, electronics, etc.

when i was still trying to use KB motors (6mm shaft) on my attempted BL savage conversion, i ground the shafts down to 5mm myself. all i did was secure the motor with my left hand on a table and the dremel in my right hand. i hooked it up to my esc and my radio system and used throttle trim to get the motor spinning at a fairly low speed. i just kept grinding the shaft as evenly as i could until a standard 5mm pinion fit snugly. this little task is pretty hard to screw up and long as you try to grind evenly and check the size often.

They say a good mechanic only needs 2 tools - WD40 & Duct tape. If it moves, and its not supposed to, duct tape. If it doesn't move, and its supposed to, WD40.

Email exchanged with Castle Rep Greg;

Jeff,
The production schedule was pushed back, and now we are expecting the new rotors sometime in early May. We apologize for the delay, I have confirmed your order and you will get yours as soon as we can ship them out.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to e-mail us or call the Tech Support line.

Are you kidding me!! I built a truck around this motor and now it’s just sitting collecting dust.

So now my question is...If you turn the shaft down to use the motors and burn it up, can we get replacement parts NOW or are we stuck waiting months or years?

That raises another question...Since most of these motors have been sitting in boxes using up the warranties how is Castle Creations going to handle a future warranty issue?

Sorry but this is really ticking me off!!!

Gents,

I have in my hands a limited number of 1717 rotors with the 5mm shaft. I currently have 6 people on the list. Those 6 gents will be getting e-mails in a few minutes. If you do not receive an e-mail, it means I do not have you on the list. If you need one, please shoot me an e-mail at thomas (at) castle creations (dot) com. Sorry for the delay, but hopefully we have enough right now to cover everyone. Thanks for your patience and understanding!

Does anybody know when the 1717s on backorder from Horizon will be available? I've had one on order for a few weeks. Also, is it going to be the 5mm or 6mm rotor (not that it matters). Thanks!
