Sounds like its gonna be a big step up in terms of output, that should help get rid of any backlogs.

@ Jthiessen- would you be happy paying ~$250 for a 1515 NeuCastle motor? If so, just buy a real Neu. Otherwise, face the reality of the global economy & accept that if you want cheaper products, they have to come ( atleast partially ) from overseas. They do still make 'em like they used to, but they cost alot more for not much more performance... Hand assembled is hand assembled in this case, just cheaper labour over seas.

We do own the company in China -- it's owned by a Kansas LLC ("Castle Holdings LLC") as a WOFE (wholly owned foreign enterprise) in China. And no, we don't have anyone under 18 working there. Nor is there anyone under 18 working in Juarez either.... (in fact, I think they are all over 40 in Juarez...)

You can buy a USA made version (as was pointed out above) by buying a Neu motor. And since we are Neu's US distributor, we encourage you to buy Neu!

I remember my last company we found the only way to get product from China how we wanted was to own the company. We went through several vendors before doing this. They don't listen, can't manufacture efficiently, and constantly want to raise prices despite what contracts we had with them.

I spent the last year and half from mid 06 to early 08 getting our machines ready and sending them over. It was fun and hell at the same time. Most of what we had was in house designed CNC machines with 20 year old operating systems on them so I spent over 6 months just specing out new systems and eventually went with baldor.

Too bad CC was not on the radar at the time for industrial control equipment. ;)

Baldor was great to deal with though and their techs were fantastic to work with much like CC.

Congratulations on the expansion and best of wishes on CC's future. This is a man's Cinderella story!

I don't think going public will be a good move. Stay private as long as you can. Who knows, maybe a partner would be nice incase you want to make very expensive ESCs and motors for the wealthy folks .

Patrick, have you thought about owning a place instead of leasing one? I know it's a bigger investment, but it always pays off in the long run.

We own the building we are in right now -- but this new building had a 9 million dollar build out by a previous tenant (Sprint) -- including a full-building UPS system, 2 megawatt generator, power distribution, 2 x 100hp compressors, furniture, etc. etc. So we decided to lease this space -- it fit perfectly into our production requirements.

That generator could be used to generate some income. Where I used to work, our generator was oversized for our needs, so we "sold" excess emergency power to the units connected to ours, and we did not guarantee uptime (to prevent lawsuit if the generator failed to operate their equipment). The UPS battery system was isolated from them though.

Don't know what you are paying for it but sounds like to good of a deal to pass up. Me if I was in manufacturing I would never own the building as it locks you in too much. Most of these build to suit setups with leases serve the manufacturer much better.
