Im going to try to put the shaft ina vice with just a little bit of the flat part sticking up out of the top of the vice and use a file to try and get it straight this time.

Be careful to not mark up the shaft to much in the vise...you will not get the pinion on if you do.

I wrapped my motor w/a cloth then put the whole motor CAREFULLY in the vise so the shaft was sticking completely out...then as stated above used a plastic bag to poke shaft through then ground flat spot
