Same principle really, it/they help to sure up the current being fed from the batts to the esc, and help to reduce current ripple from lower quality batts. Its just a supplement to the caps already in/on the esc- wont always make a difference, sometimes can make a big difference- the old quark 125b is a favourite amongst many guys to receive some extra caps to boost its performance and lower temps, especially with 6s lipo use ( often a bit flakey on 6s ).
