Looking for a new project... - 10.10.2010, 05:56 PM

Well, as everyone is no doubt aware, Castle have their motor sale on at the moment. I picked up a 1518 which has a home waiting for it in my DB Flux for more comfortable 6s running. And I also picked up a 1717 for shits and giggles. I'm looking for inspiration on what to do with it. Any ideas for a good conversion/project? I was thinking about maybe a Madforce VE with custom links for a huge wheelbase...

you could do a savage conversion

1. MBX-6 T8 1900KV, RX8 ON 4S
2. MBX-5T 1520, MMM ON 5S
3. MBX-5 ONROAD CONVERSION 1515, MMM ON 5S
4. MRX-3 ON ROAD CONVERSION 1512, MMM ON 6S
5. TEN T 2650 T8, MMP ON 3S

Something 1/6 or 1/5 scale...maybe using one of the large, 1/6 scale bodies from any of the companies (Jada Toys, DUB Toys, Nylint, etc.)...

Yea, I am currently building a 1/6 Dodge Magnum using Maxx-Based suspension and brushless, as well as a 1/6 Jesse James Chevy Truck that will end up a 1/5 "Scale Crawler" using custom solid-axles, 4-Links, and brushless...not to mention my 1/4+ scale pedal-car body that I want to make into a brushless RC car!

Don't like 1/5th scale, besides which my DB17 will wear a Redcat Rampage/Duratrax Firehammer bodyshell quite happily without it looking outsize whislt weighing about 10lbs less than either.

I guess I really wouldn't mind massively overpowering an LST. That could be fun. Problem is finding a roller over here and then converting it to XXL.

If it is 10lbs less than a redcat 1/5 that would make it in the 12-14lb range.

Aye, RTR with the 3s packs, Big joes and heavy duty fibreglass shell the DB17 should sit right around 15lbs. Would most likely be 14lb with a lexan shell.

New project is decided, I have justpassedu's LST conversion on the way to me, along with the 1717 and some creative motor mounting, an MMM and a 6s pack we should be laying down some serious poke.

I need to know some stuff though, never owned or looked at an LST before... Gearing pitch? final drive ratio? metric/imperial screws? Useful upgrades?

LST bods, i need youuuuuuu!

idk how u feel about cen vehicals, but they have a trade in program and you can get a brand new gsr 5.0 factory roller for $200. i'm currently working on a gst 7.7 conversion and its a pretty fun project. i scored a 1717 for it, and i will most likely use my mgm 22418 to control it. i'd like to see more conversions for this truck out there.

I like CEN stuff, had a couple of the 1/10th scales. Was actually looking at them before the LST. Didn't know you could get a factory roller. It's something to think about anyway.

I have the LST now, got another MMM on the way, the 1717 is here. I need to setup the steering, get a 6s pack and find a motor mount to take the 1717.
Anyone know of a mount that will take it off the shelf?
