HELP... OK so I have been watching this thread/sale since it started, but have been a little bit werry about making a purchase. From what I have read the 1717 is my target, but I am still not sure. I have several SuperMaxx style trucks setup in various different ways. I am kind of interested in getting another motor that will eventually end up in a high speed test project. I just want a motor that will hold up well to high speed runs pushing a truck that weighs about 15lbs - 18lbs. I still have no real idea what batteries will end up on this project, but it could be anything from 14-30volts depending on what ESC's end up being tested in the setup. So what motor would be a good choice for my plans that will give me some versatility? OH and hopefully whatever you suggest is still available???
SUPERMAXX YOUR LIFE.

Reason: ADDING INFO
Jerry if it was me I would go ahead and get a 1717 ,and a 1520 .Three pounds is a lot! I have the 1717 in my lst xxl and have the 1520 in both of my boys muggys. None of them break a sweat!!!
I think I will go ahead and get one of the 1717's then. I have a 1520, a 1521, and now I have a 1527 as well. I want to have plenty of options with this project in trying to reach my goal of going well over 100mph when the time comes. That way if one fails for whatever reason I can just switch out the motor/ESC combination and keep right on trucking. Weight is not really that much of a big deal for me. I still believe that having a reasonable amount of weight is required to keep things stable and on the ground. I have seen way too many people trying to go light on a high speed project and watch it fly away completely obliterating their projects. Watching how they do things at the Boniville salt flats tells me that you have to find a happy medium in weight in order to reach ones goal and still have a vehicle left at the end. anyway thanks for the advice. Now to see if there are any 1717's left and how much are they?
Now I see what you mean. I went into the CC store and loaded up the cart with a 1717 motor and saw the final checkout price with shipping for like $62 and just had to add a second motor. At that price I just could not pass it up. This way I have a backup of two 1717 motors for $100. Great deal for my hard earned money. Now that we are heading for Prague New Year I will have to get my hands on a few MGM ESC's to use in this porject. I still have not made up my mind about the batteries yet though. I figure after Xmas prices will fall even more and give us a chance to make some really really good deals on LiPos. Thanks again for the advice. There will be a thread about this project next year some time once I get everything I need in hand. Have a great Xmas and New Year guys.
