I have made custom parts with both 8th inch 6061 and 7075 and the 6061 bends too easily and does not thread well. Of course if you have to weld it the 6061 is you best bet but the 7075 is superior in every other way.

Of course the last chassis parts I ever made were titanium. Can't remember which grade though. They were beasts and never bent.
