Make sure the pins in the balance connector are seated and staying seated. I had a problem like that awhile back and it was all in the balance plug of the battery. It would make a good enough connection to "read" the voltages of each cell. But as soon as I went to charge or balance it would display the same error. I guess it would pick up on the resistance of the loose/dirty connection and abort, a feature I like about the Hyperions.

I ended up changing just the plastic part of one of my balance connectors and it was fine. On another pack, one of the main leads actually came unsoldered and was held on by the shrink! And I would've never known if it wasn't for the charger...
