Since adobe flash player has become so large and complex, it would take a lot of effort to rewrite it for a PowerPC processor, so it is highly unlikely that anyone has taken the time to do it. And flash player is updated so often that you would just be out of date in a few months again.

What you might try doing is downloading the video from youtube (put 'link' in front of the URL (but after the www.) so http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opRg7OHufxQ would become http://www.linkyoutube.com/watch?v=opRg7OHufxQ and that should let you download it, tho I'm not completely sure on a PowerPC) and then play the video with VLC media player or something. It's a lot of work, but it should smooth things out.

Good luck!

Thanks Brijar. I'll try it.

Unfortunately for us the boys are moving up to the high school level next year and we are required to purcahse brand new Macbook Pros for both of them. It is manditory or they have to go to school elsewhere. Our 15 year old turned us on to a website where you can purchase used Macbook Pros for reasonable pricing. They start at around $700. We loaded them up with more RAMM and a few other goodies to help them grow through the year and even if you load them up with a three year warranty, insurance, and require a new battery be installed they come out to about $1200. The site is Gainsaver.com. I do hope there is some way for you to overcome this whimpy laptop problem. Try writing to a local college for assitance for higher learning. Maybe they will have a grant system in place to help a person like yourself with special challenges. Good luck with that young man.

damn... I was complaining that I had to buy a $100 calc... that I never used...

Brijar hit it right on the dot. Hate to say it but G4's are like Pentium 4s, long outdated. I'm guessing you are still running OS X 10.3 or 10.4 on that machine which is the reason why you are having Youtube issues. I've been able to get Youtube to run ok on a G4 running 10.4 and Firefox but with the RAM maxed out at 2GB. If you could upgrade to a Core 2 MacBook it would be well worth it.

Yea thats what we were thinking, but this school is a very advanced environment in which we are pleased for our kids to have the chance to attend school here. SO we will come up with a way to cover the added expense, since the Gov pays for them to attend no matter what school we place them in. As it turns out the school also has a local Apple contract that offers nice discounts on more up to date refurbished Pro Macbooks as well. So each of them will be getting a used

(Pro Macbook 13" Intel I5 2.3 ghz, 4gb RAM, 320gb HD, Superdrive CD/DVD, Intel graphics HD 3000, full 2 year international Apple I-care warranty, and the school loads every program Apple offers and maintains them in their IT program while we are here for free.)

So even though it is an unexpected $$$$ burden at leat the retail value of the deal works out to be nearly $4K per laptop, and our total cost per laptop is $1300. Plus the laptops are ours to do with as we wish. I would say that is not too bad of a deal, and at European prices. Things are much more expensive here in Europe when you do a $$$ conversion. So we cannot complain.
