actually, they recently became a sponsor of rctech, so that would be why anything negative against maxcraps is now being removed on rctech. the way i see it is they are buying out these forum sites because the truth is being pointed out about how bad of a value their packs are. if they are sponsors of a forum site, say, rctech, they can demand that anything negative about them is removed in order to maintain sponsorship. their goal with this is pretty obvious: block all negativity toward them while still making their outrageous claims, so that the noobs and "unaware" people continue to waste their money on their sub-par overpriced packs.
i am in no way biased toward brand names, but i have yet to see any maxamps packs perform anywhere near what they are rated for. i have a pair of their 2s packs that i acquired in a trade and while they are rated at "30c", they are actually more like 5-6c packs. in my evader ext2 (a very light 2wd 1/10 truck), they drop voltage so badly that they will start to hit the 3v/cell LVC on my sidewinder only 2 minutes into the run and slowly hit it more and more from there. my 3 year old tenergy 6 cell 4200mah ni-mh pack holds voltage better than those maxamps packs. i only use them in the evader because they simply cannot handle anything more and since the punch is so weak on them, i don't have to worry about drivetrain issues
also, by the way, they are 3000mah 2s packs that i run in parallel (6000mah 2s2p) in the evader and they will still temp at over 110F geared for only 40mph with a weak brushless setup. they are so weak that when i charge them at 1c, they will increase about 5-10F above their starting temperature. i usually only charge them at .5c. and they only take about 1800-2100mah in a full charge. i have a single 2200mah 2s 20c turnigy lipo that runs cooler and has more punch than those packs combined. surprisingly, they only puff slightly during the run and go back to almost solid after charging.
also, i once ran an almost new "60c" i think 6500mah 4s pack in my brushless 1/8 buggy geared for 38mph and it got up to 145F and swelled up pretty bad. i apologized to the owner of the pack, but he even agreed with me that that pack sucked, despite it costing over $200. i then let him run my 20c 5000mah turnigy lipo and he said the punch on it was waaay better than his maxcramps pack. he now only runs turnigy and hyperion packs.
i've also seen a pair of savage flux battery boxes ruined due to the maxcraps packs swelling to the point where the boxes broke open on the sides.
sorry about the ranting, but that is my experience with maxamps, not to mention the various escs and puffed/vented maxamps packs that i have seen and most of them were only run in slashes, rustlers, and other 1/10 vehicles.
