No the shims he suggested were for the pinion not for the side to side end play.you need a 16mm outside buy 14 mm inside at least thats what i measure with my calipers on the FLM ultimate diff combo.

Actually the same shims worked out just fine. Completely got rid of the side to side play.

Revo/t-maxx -
03.13.2012, 04:22 AM
Those are Revo and T-Maxx 3.3 version tranny gears. I believe they are for the nitro version, but since I have not owned a Traxxas stock brushless vehicle I do not know if these work on a brushless tranny. I do know that they will not work in the old E-Maxx 3906 tranny.

I very much doubt it- the single speed 3908 tranny uses a 33t output gear, vs the 38t & 43t gears in the nitro tranny. Both have a 13t idler gear, which makes fitting a different sized output gear impossible.
The gears in the 3908 tranny are very strong though, haven't seen anyone strip those yet despite being made of plastic ( top gear and idler are steel, output is plastic ).

Ultramaxxed gears. -
04.05.2012, 12:57 AM
Not sure if those are truly Ultramaxxed gears. Looking at that picture those look more like RC4WD gears. They tried to copy Ultramaxxed gears, but they were not quite the same high quality. Anyway they will fit into the original 3906 tranny. The RC4WD gears work fine, but their full set of gears sold for $100 retail. I would question the seller for sure.
I wish that I could shoot him an email to ask if he knows for sure what gears these are, but I have not had an EBay account for quite some time(too much hassles and hacker). Looking at the title of the sale he is not sure ether. He lists Unlimited Engineering SuperMaxx, TMaxx, EMaxx, & GorillaMaxx. These gears were made specifically for the 3906 EMaxx tranny, and will not fit into a TMaxx tranny or any other version of the EMaxx tranny's. Honestly looking closer at his picture those do not look like Ultramaxxed gears. I have both, plus a set of titanium gears, and they all have their own atributes that distinguishes who made them. I could be wrong, but you posted up in here looking for info. I would not purchase them without clarifying details on how he is identifying these gears.

Aren't you using a 3908 tranny? As neil said above, they don't break, so nobody has made stronger gears for them.
You will break diffs, driveshafts or strip wheel hexes before you break a 3908 tranny, no matter how hard you bash.

The brass idlers are a trademark of real Ultramaxxed gears though- I have the RC4WD aluminium gear set and they only sold them with aluminium idlers, so chances are the ones on ebay are the read-deal- my only thought being that Ultramaxxed gears were Titanium I thought, rather than aluminium, but anything is better than the plastic gears in the 3906 tranny. Why he has a spare 1st gear output and shift-dog is another question though....
