I agree with the others, and I have experience with both motors, 7XL and 8XL, and I also run 14 cells. Altought the 8XL runs a bit cooler on 14 cells, the 7XL is still fine, even in hot weather. A fan is always a good idea, though, and correct gearing too.

If you have the extra bucks, get a Lehner 1950/6 or 7, just as CHC suggested. They are very nice quality motors. I replaced all my Wanderer/Feigaos with Lehner 1950s!

As for controller, for super-hot weather, I would take the 120amp Warrior over the 99amp model. I run mine on the 99 amp one with fans, but I don't live in Texas.
