I'm a beginner at the machining too,a friend has been teachng me,Only cost me £180 with lots of bits and pieces for it aswell.it basically just needed a good scrub up and a new paint job,there's virtually no wear on the bed or any of the slides and everything is good and tight on it,and it runs dead true,it's the same size as a Myford ML7,that's what i'd like to get when i've fnished abusing this one while learning.It's actually a training lathe so probably came from a college,no power feed but it's ideal for learning the basics.

You can just use a y-harness but on mine the brake servo is on the 3rd channel,if you've got a JR radio or any 3 channel radio with channel mixing (DX3 has this too) you just mix the brake side of the throttle servo with the 3rd channel,then you can adjust the epa and exponental of the brake servo seperately and also it only moves in the brake direction so doesn't move the other way when you give it throttle.If i want reverse i can just unhook the brakes and reprogramm the controller.i added the mechanical brakes out of sympathy for the controller when i felt the weight of it,13lbs.
