Nice truck. Could you have the flm tanny case milled to fit? Then have it ano-ed to match the purple parts? Just a thought...

A couple of the finned hacker c50 motors would look great. A pair of c50 maxx motors would be a cool retro touch.

Thanks man. I could mill the flm case down myself or mill out the HCR chassis, but I don't really like touching parts that I didn't make. It takes away from them and takes the value down I think. I thought about it and have decided that the most logical thing to do with the trans is to build another truck I can use it on . I already have a custom chassis for it and am trying to get arms and knuckles as we speak. That will be a later build I suppose. Hacker motors are on my list though.

I don't really want to do any anodizing on this build, but I will in later builds. The original plan was the FLM trans with dual hacker's. I have come up with a new plan though and will be pursuing it rather quickly I hope. This truck needs to be finished, because the one after it is going to be twice as good I think

You just have way too many shiny parts Kris. I really like the HCR wheels, looks killer on this truck. Every time I look at your threads I want to build a full HCR Maxx, but I guess it will be impossible to find all the parts.

Cool, I fully understand about not wanting to mod parts. I buy most of my stuff used so hacking it up does not really bother me. But none of my stuff ever looks as nice as what you are building!!! I recently picked up a mini mill, should have picked that up years ago.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Klausen, I have gotten all of my HCR parts within the last year so it is possible if your willing to put in the effort to find them. Being overseas though might make it about 10X harder for you I guess. Anything I can do to help though, just let me know.

Lincpimp, I have debated over getting a mini mill or a big Bridgeport for about a year now. Money is the biggest reason I don't have one or the other, also the fact I can't decide if one day I would like to attempt to make money on my own machining or just continue doing it as my normal job for someone else and then make some stuff for myself on the side. Right now I can only do stuff for myself every so often when a machine is free which isn't all that often.

There's nothing rare or not easily replaceable with that FLM tranny. Mill it up man.

Also, stick with the black wheels. It matches the shock bodies and adds cohesiveness to the build.

Thanks paralyzed. Milling the case on a manual machine would be quiet an undertaking. I suppose it would be possible, but that is beyond my skill level at this point.

Ok, so I have been looking at this thing and I keep saying there needs to be more purple in the middle of the truck. So I decided to rob off of my Tmaxx. I switched the purple chassis braces from it to the emaxx and vise versa. The Tmaxx ideally will have a purple trans at some point, so once that is on it will look fine with the extra silver. Pics say it all here, let me know which way yall like.

Tmaxx with purple chassis braces

Emaxx with silver chassis braces

Then the possible center diff mount plate with the silver braces

I like having choices and this purple center skid just doesn't have the right shade of purple for me. (The far left is now being used)

Compared

Tmaxx with silver chassis braces (keep in mind hope to one day have a purple trans on this also)

Definitely like the silver braces on the T-Maxx and the purple braces on the E-Maxx better!

Ok guys, thanks for the comments and input. The emaxx will be staying with the purple braces. Now all I have left on it is figuring out what center diff to use, what mounts will mount to the mount I have. First thing is finding a center diff that will actually fit in between the hole where the trans should sit. I want to use an Ofna, but I'm not positive on the spur gear options they offer and if it will fit. I'm researching though and hope to get moving on it.

You need to get the mount first, as the height of the center diff will play a huge role in what fits. If the diff is dead center in the hole it will be at it's widest point, moving the gear up or down from there could give you enough room to make one fit.

Rc-Monster Mike makes custom spools. I run a center spool in my LST conversion. A spool with a traxxas gear may be the only thing you get to fit in between the chassis rails.

Even the smallest center diff spur I know of (44t) will take some trimming unless you can get it's widest point above the chassis or to land in the gap of the center braces.

2 other things- A gorillamaxx single speed converted tranny with the FLM half case would probably fit the hole.

Here is another manufacturers alloy e-maxx tranny case, maybe it would fit and you could deanodize it? > http://www.ebay.com/itm/Alu-Gearbox-...item2c5eeec328
