Have you ever seen something like that? - 07.19.2015, 02:29 PM

Hello Guys,

I have a problem with my Monster Max ESC. I was running in our Garden and then the ESC stoppt working. My ESC shows the ligths for overheating.
This is very curious because my ESC was cool. So I wait 5 min. and try it again but the ESC isn't working anymore. The BEC and LED's are Still working but the Motor shows no signal. So I try to make a reset and calibrating it new but it still won't work.
I try my Xerun ESC and everything is ok, so I think my Motor and Lipo's are OK.

Any Ideas what happend with my ESC?

Hi,

I think I found the problem. I open my Case and the heatsink was totaly lose. When I removed the heatsink I saw this.

I think these Mosfet's are the Problem. I don't know how something like this can happen but I think I will need a new one.

It appears that when the heatsink popped off it damaged a couple of the MOSFETs. The heatsink may have come off when the FETs popped; it looks like there are scorch marks on two of the 3 phases, usually caused by the ESC losing commutation with the motor. That damage will prevent the ESC from driving the motor and you most likely lost the beeping/tones on start-up.

If the unit is less than a year old and you have a copy of a dated sales receipt please get the unit sent to us for service. If it is over a year old or you do not have the receipt we can replace it for $85 + return shipping ($5 US, $7 Canada, $15 all other international). The replacement cost gets you a brand new Mamba Monster 2 and a new 1-year warranty.

You can find details on our service process at www.castlecreations.com/support/repairs.html.
