Thanks everyone. It looks like I'm on the right track with my setup. CHC , I am planning on an UBEC. For 40 bucks it is worth not burning up a esc. Is the main reason for an UBEC to help keep the esc from getting to hot? My dad is running the 9920 with a 8 xl no ubec, just using the internal from BK. Motor will get up to 140-145 and the esc get 135 after 10-12 mins with 14 cells. He has only run it 3 or 4 times so far. He started off with 28/64 before he melted the stock slipper we've tried 28/66 (screaming fast)with the same heat and speeds. After reading through some of the old forums I bought him a 20t pinion The temps definatly went down at least 10 deg on the motor and esc but I can't remember the exact numbers. The run time was almost twice as long but the speed was cut in about half, with 12 cells, and new gearing Still faster than my twin 550's. I'm also planning on going to Deans connectors

So many toys and so little time
