Finnster, altough the Strobe is the best option and I like them alot, I still have some trucks with the stock traxxas spurs. On one I use a high power brushless under hard driving conditions, and still the same traxxas spur since I assembled it almost 2 years ago.
Just have to keep the mesh correct. The only real downside is, you can't dial in any slip at all, or the gear will melt. Use 12 pegs and crank the spring down, it should hold up. And spur gears are not hard/expensive to replace.
Still, my money is on the strobe, though. Just wanted to share my experience with the stocker.
