Thanks for the link squee. I have a few ball ends that should work for now.

And you guys were right, the motor clamp does not fit at all. I was hoping it would wrap around just the ends but the diameter is too small. I'll shoot an email to Mike and see if he has anything that will work as a clamp.

Natrix, me and Leroy (Coolhandcountry) designed a motor mount/diff holder for my truck. If you want, PM and we can discuss having 2 sets made. It wouldn't cost nearly as much if both sets were made at the same time. One major advantage to it is that it fits inbetween the braces for a better weight distribution.

Just a quick update from my race weekend. I mounted the ESC right underneath the rear braces but with no fans or heatsinks.

Since I am running the 52T spur, there is only room to mount the ESC. With no fans or heatsinks, I was thermaling right at the 3 minute mark. Gearing was 14/52 with 8000mah 4s. According to my wattmeter, I was hitting 1814 watts. Even when I set my throttle EPA to 75% and threw a couple fans on the esc, I still thermaled after 3 minutes.

I'm going to try mouting the esc and some heatsinks/fans on the opposite side of the steering servo. Time to get back in the shop and mill out a new mount. I'll also probably mill out the BPP logo to save a few grams.

You are pulling a lot of amps there....like +130A

You can try gearing down, and running a ubec....

Has anyone run a 7XL without thermalling? Seems thermalling with a 7XL is common but maybe I haven't been paying attention ;)

I've been running the UBEC from the rc-monster store. I also have a 13T pinion I could have ran at the race but I forgot it at home. DOH!! From reading the quark heatsink threads, I know for certain that adding heatsinks and fans will go a long way in keeping things cool. It did not thermal at all when I had the esc/fans/heatsinks tucked into the black box.

My neu 1515 1y came over the weekend from Mike but the feigao ran fine during the races. Will the more efficient neu drop the temps on the esc? Or does having a more efficient motor only affect motor temps and runtime?

Yea, the Neu should increase runtimes, etc. Maybe it is thermaling because the motor could have been damaged when the front came off? I have heard of that happening.

The Neu will drop esc temps given the same amount of power output... it will take less watts in to make the same watts out.

In other words, it takes less energy to make the same horsepower... so the esc and batts are happy cause they don't work as hard.

Thanks for the comforting information. I'm glad I ponied up the extra bucks for the neu. I have my new fans coming in from ebay. I hope these put out more CFM than my tiny 25mm novak fans.

Thank you all again for the useful information. I know I could not get through this project without your help.

Did you just thermal epoxy them to the ESC or use a different heatsink with the fans?
