Looking up a few things and seeing a couple diagrams, I've found more information on my mower.
According to B&D, it delivers 5-horsepower gas equivalent at peak torque. You folks more experienced in electronics and mechanics can tell me what that REALLY means :)
Also, the motor produces 1339 maximum watts output. I see 1300 watts on the XL1600 and XL1200. Provided their information is accurate, that sounds like it's on the powerful end, in comparison.
Lastly, from the diagrams I've seen it looks like the motor drives the blade directly.

Although I'd love to make it into an R/C mower, I really can't justify the cost when I could be dropping that money into an actual R/C car or truck :)
