There is nothing wrong with the pletties, its just that for the price and cell count they can take, arent the prettiest. You also have to take into account, like the lehners there is a longer turnaround if anything happens to them. I think they are all great motors.

Of all the BL monster trucks I've seen, only a token few had Pletty's.

The majority of high end trucks always seem to have Lehner 1940 or 1950's. More recently the NEU's are making their presence known (my truck included).

hackers were popular but that seems to be waning. Novak HV Maxx seems to show up on mid-range trucks or with those afraid to pick & choose among the offerings to build their own "best system". Of course the Feigao's show up alot due to their excellent value and good performance.

I think the Pletty is built very well but the limited wind offerings may be the single biggest reason you see so few. One size does not fit all.

I have always wondered about testing the pletties. I just never have. I think
they are nice motors. I kind of like the looks of them. Do you have any rotor
size measurements on it bombproof?

As far as specs go the big max is 80mm long, 43mm around.

I agree, the Novaks aregeared toward the low-mid level trucks, and the pletty/nue are the high end...without question. As far as service work, I agree, its probably going to take longer to fix a pletty. But a motor in its voltage range and good bearings is going to last a looooong time. Im not knocking the nue in any way, by any means. As far as one size fits all, well...that can be debated for years.

I wanted a Pletty with fan for a long time but I wasn't doing much with my conversions and I was not ready to pay so much $$ for a motor.

Once I did take the plunge for a high-end motor I had the option of the "new" Neus. :) More kv choices, easier to get in here in the States, cheaper, etc.

But I still look with some envy at the Pletty Max... it just looks cool.

The Big maxximum is the best looking motor I've seen! The NUE looks great but the Pletty's look perfect (almost intimidating!) in a monster truck!

The fan idea is great too.

I've always been concerned by the service issues with Lehner, BK, Pletty, etc. I'm not a fan of waiting months for an item to be serviced nor the obstacles of shipping over seas and thru customs.

I dont remember the actual rotor size.

I havent heard anything about pletty service, its not something thats going to break often. However, Mtroniks is overseas and the service is outstanding. Comparable to CC, which is awesome. I smoked a Mtronik esc and within 10 days of sending it out I had a free replacement in hand. BK is horrible, shulze is worse.

To be honest, I don't understand why everybody says BK's service is horrible...I had great service with them. Yea, it took about a month, but thats not bad. I shipped it to FD and then they shipped it to Germany and then FD shipped me one from there inventory and BK covered them on it with there next order. Not to mention I think it fried because it got wet, but they replaced it for free...

My personal experience was, Ran the ESC less than 5 minutes and smoked a row of FETs. Sent it in, 9 months later they want to charge a repair fee, but Jamie at Starluck worked it out and didnt have to pay a fee. Kinda stinks for service on a $375 ESC.

You were dealing with FD, not BK. You would still be waiting if you were dealing with BK.

i've got a maximum with fan in my g2r revo (shorter than the big maxximum and higher kv) on 4s and it runs really NICE... i can't imagine needing anything more, wheelies at almost any speed... i've run it with a mamba max and a quarq with no issues... as far as support www.icare-rc.com is my contact and they in north america so no issues there... i don't know why they're not more popular here either... you've got 3 to choose from... they are pretty popular in europe

Interesting... that makes at least two guys with the Mxximum/MM combo that don't have any issues. This motor is a 4 pole correct?

I wonder why the Neu has come cogging but not the Pletty...

ya 4 pole... the plettys have much stroger magnetic resistance though.. you can't turn the shaft with your fingers... the key is that once it does get going that same magnetic force helps it keep going... if i put a pinion on my pletty and spin the rotor it keeps spinning for longer than my other motors... same with their 1/10 scale motors which have the smoothest start of any brushless i've ever had
