HELP! Need a quick answer!...

Ok guys, I have saved up enough money to purchase a higher end BL motor for my LSP. I have narrowed it down to a couple motors:

Neu 1515 1y/F

Neu 1512 2.5d/F

LMT (Lehner) 1940, What wind? 7 or 8? (cant afford a 1950:031: )

Pros and cons of each?

I will run a maxamps 8000mah 4s lipo on a quark 125b so 4 pole motors are not a problem. Anyone know the approximate run time of this setup?(geared for 40mph)

I would guess @25min on a track, but as always runtime is tricky to predict exactly.

Thats the motor I like, I just wanted others opinions who have more experience in BL.

GD, how did you fair against the nitro heads at your track geared for 30mph? Which 1515 did you use; I think I am going to get the 2200kv one but should I wait for mike to get the 1700kv one back in-stock? Just for reference, the lowest pinion I run is a 12 tooth...

I'm running the Neu 1515 1y/f with the Quark 125b in both a 1/8 buggy and one in a Jammin CRT. This is a great combo. So far in the buggy, the motor temps have always been rather low after 25 min. the highest it gets is about 155-160*F on a hot day,100*F. The Quark needs a little cooling help, once that's covered it is a great setup.

What are you running it in?

I did very well on a smallish track... got 2nd at the trophy race out of about 16 trucks. Top end isn't ballistic with this setup but it pulls soooo hard out of the corners... instant snap.

I did gear up 2 teeth (to 14/52) when I went to a bigger track...

The 1Y is fine I think... I just went with the 1700, but it was a toss up. I just decided I didn't need 50mph and the 1700 would be enough, and it's better suited to 6s someday....

I have both the Neu 1512/2.5D and the Lehner 1940/7 and also a Neu 1515/2.5D (not the same wind as you are considering)

I have run all of them in my revo. To be honest, the 1940/7 is my favorite motor of the 3. Its is one freaking wicked motor. Of the 3 I have its also the highest KV rateing so that probably hase something to do with it. :018:

Dont get me wrong the Neu motors are just as nice. I think the 1512 size is more than enough for a Revo. I am actually running my 1512/2.5D in my revo right now and its an awesome little motor. On 4s is a great track motor. PLENTY of power. on 5s it is a serious powerhouse also, great bashing fun.

If you go with the Neu because they are local and easy for any service issues that may occur (that is a big consideration) I personally think that at 1512/2.5D is more suited for a 40mph setup with the longerst run time than the 1515/1Y. Any of these 3 motors will easily be able to be set up for 40mph on 4s with no problem, its just a matter of dialing in the correct gearing. But, the 1512/2.5D will draw less amps and have longer run times than the 1515/1Y because its smaller and a lower KV, and the 1512/2.5D is still more than enough motor for your target with more power than you tires can put to the ground.

Go with the 1512/2.5D for the best run times with plenty of power. Go with the 1515/1Y for the most flat out power (biggest motor with the highest KV) sacraficing some run time, and go with the Lehner 1940/7 for the middle setup.

BTW: If you are ordering right away you wont get the Lehner. Mikes been waiting for a shipment from them for quite some time now.

Alright, I will order a Neu(partly because they are based here in the USA and they are in-stock). Also, I have talked with mike and he seems to think that the 1515 are better suited to larger trucks, though the 1512 was my first choice.(I will run it in a Hot Bodies Lightning Stadium Pro 1/8 truggy)

I am still some what undecided, but when I order later today I'll let everyone know what I bought....

Mike runns the 1515/1Y on 4s in his race Maxx. It is a killer setup. Bottom line is I dont think you can go wrong with any of these motors.

Can the Neu 1515 1y/F be run on 5s or will it be too hot?

How will the 1512 2.5d/F and 1515 1y/F running on 4s compare to my 9xl on 5s?

The 1515/1y will run on 5s, just make sure you cool it properly. I saw Mikes Maxx with 1515/1Y on 5s and it was a beast. Really fast.

5s will always feel more powerfull than 4s.

Both will run cooler than the 9xl.

I just bought the 1515 1y!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It will probably be here Tuesday or Wednesday, I can't wait!
