Nope :) I don't think I want to risk a $25 gear unless I have to. Maybe sometime I'll be stuck with a steel spur so I can try it.

I would think a hardened pinion would hold up ok with the gear mesh right and less-than-insane power and usage. The gear I got from Mike is made from a nitro clutch bell so it should be good.

But after hearing about guys ruining hardened pinions I think it's best to just use plastic spurs.
