I think the timing was set to 10 when i looked at the mamba. Ill deffinatly turn the punch control on and see if that helps. It seemed to lurch and be jittery.

don't worry about the flat spot, I have never had a pinion slip off of the shaft due to the lack of a flat.
I see that now that i have had the pinion mounted and then taken it off.

One other major area of concern is getting the transmission to stay in gear. Unfourtenly i dont have the OEM linkage peice for the servo so i cant even stick it in there. I thought of getting the single speed but for bashing i dont see the need for the 74 dollars and that little weight. Any suggestions on this?

Thanks agian for all the help guys!

I just put a small cable tie or piece of wire (not electrical wire) through the little hole in the shifter shaft then wrap it around something near by, so the shaft stays pushed in (for second gear).

Ok so i got a golden horizon steering kit and installed it this afternoon unfortunately no pics as the camera is dead. I took it out to a local warehouse facility and ran it in the dirt out back. I made rooster tails almost 6 feet long and 2 feet high. Ended the run with the pinion slipping off the shaft, any suggestions on this? I didnt think that lock tight was a good idea but let me know if this is usually the solution.

Im looking for a picture i thought i saved of some homemade wheelie bars. Anyone have anything that uses a shock setup or any suggestions on a premade one?

In answer to the singlespeed issue, you can just buy the coupler for $18 to lock it into 2nd gear, or you can bolt the dog-shifter to the 2nd gear.

I would suggest a flat spot on the motor shaft, and use a little blue threadloc to prevent it sliding off (just dab a little on the end of the shaft where the pinion and shaft meet).

As for a wheelie bar, you could use the rubbish traxxas version, or Swammie make one I think. NewEra also sell one or two I believe.

As far as the wheelie bar i will most likely fab something up as its needed.

Ive got to get some blue thread lock, necessary at this point as it seems im only able to get through a half a run and the pinion comes off.

Looking for a solution for the steering system. Im looking for the screws in the picture below.

Wondering if any of you know of a solution what is a hex head and possibly a stainless.

I've never seen shoulder-type screws that small before, so you may be out of luck. My solution is/was to use an alloy version of the bellcranks that use different screws, and is altogether stronger & smoother. GPM, Integy, Powerline, Newera.. they all make good replacement bell cranks, complete with screws and bearings etc (drop in upgrade).

I got a Golden Horizon kit that is alloy but uses the stock screws, i was going to lock tight them but my concern is that the screws head will strip before the locktight comes out. Im going to go to a local hardware store and see what i can find. An idea i had was to use some small bushings.

Very very small bushings, but that would work I reckon.

I got a Golden Horizon kit that is alloy but uses the stock screws, i ended up using stock shocktower screws, slightly longer, and lock washer on the oppisite side, not completely tightened down.

It is much better than the old emaxx chassis, plus you can use the updated steering setup, which is also much better. Plus the chassis is longer, and that helps out stability. I have had great success with the stock traxxas wheelie bar. It does come undone at times, but I have not cracked one yet.

I just use a Collar to lock it in second. I have the shaft pulled out and the collar on the shaft to keep it from going back in.

If you have the shift fork pulled out that means it is in 1st. 2nd gear is closest to the motor plate side of the tranny.
