Ok just an update - I've received the brand new MMMs back. Really really happy but the only catch is that there is a rattle in one of them. Sounds like a broken piece of the case that's running loose inside. What should I do ? CC has already issued warnings about opening the case without authorisation. I am a little concerned.

It may be one of the bottom case mounting tabs has broken off. Check the 8 mounting tabs on the bottom edge of the controller. You can check 4 of them on the sides without any problems. You will have to slightly peel back the edge of the labels on the battery and motor sides to check those. If you notice a tab missing, then there is your culprit. If you don't notice a missing tab, then it may be a bit more serious. If it's only a piece of plastic then there should be no worries. But of course if it's metallic then we could have some problems.
If you don't notice the missing tab then opening the case is the only option. The reason we have been telling people not to open their cases is because of the method some people use. If you carefully press the tabs in on 2 or 3 sides of the case, the case will simply pop apart (You'll have to peel the two small sides of the label down). The problem we are seeing is when people take a screwdriver and pop just one side apart. Then proceed to shove the screwdriver into the tab opening and try to wedge the case open. Of course the head of screwdriver grinding against the circuit board has very unpleasant results. As long as your a diligent and careful in opening the case, you should not cause any harm to the controller.
Find the little bugger that's rattling around and check what it is. If it's plastic, no worries. If it looks like a circuit board component, there is certainly room to be worried. If it is the latter, give us a call in Tech Support and we'll get you a new V3 sent our right away. If you do find one of the case tabs, let us know as well and we'll get you hooked up with a new case sent sent out.
Hope this helps some but if you have any questions please give us a ring in Tech Support and we'll get things sorted out.
joeling,
If you carefully press the tabs in on 2 or 3 sides of the case, the case will simply pop apart

This would be incorrect.......do not insert anything into any of the tabs on the sides of the controller. Pop the tabs loose on the motor wire side, and the power wire side only. The tabs on the sides are off limits when it comes to pushing them in. As long as you do it from the ends you should be fine.
Oops, see what happens when Tech Support crawls in their den and they don't let us see light for long periods? Mike is in our engineering department and gets hands on experience with the monsters everyday. He showed me the correct technique and it is very simple. Just two tabs on the motor or battery side and the case simply pulls apart. Sorry for any confusion and thanks for clearing that up Mike!
I would have just had Thomas edit his post but you can't ever catch the guy when he is not on the phone helping customers......dang tech support guys always talking.
Thanks for this information. Me and joeling are on the opposite part of the globe and getting in touch with CC in any form is very helpful.
On a side note, i tested my 2 V3 that I received as a replacement for my V2 however one of them wont arm/sync with the controller:
- holding wide open throttle, will hear tones followed by 3 tones (like setting the full forward throttle) but then it will stop if you go with full reverse and just blink amber
- Similar symptom as the V2s I've sent to CC
- Re-flash to 1.20 see if it helps but nothing same result
- Swap the 2nd V3 and everything work fine. Nothing was changed except the V3
Does this mean I got a bad V3? I am about to send it back to CC with the Invoice and original receipt.
Any suggestion to make it work will be appreciated. The video of the 2nd V3 working flawlessly can be found on the 2nd link on my signature.
Joe Ling let us know what is rattling on that V3...hope everything works
Thank u very much for your advice. I will try to work on it within the next 2 weeks. Will be outstation for the next 2 weeks. Oh ya, I have opened the cases of MMM plenty of times on the V1s & V2s but not in the correct way. Good info guys. Last thing is to have to send the brand new V3 back half way across the globe again. Again, appreciate the quick response.
