I would like to set a price for the two setups...
Setup 1:
HW80 esc
Medusa __mm motor???
Zippy 4s
RCM mount
Setup 2:
Hw150/mmm esc
Medusa __mm motor????
Zippy 5s (probably lower mah then the 4s would be)
RCM mount
Which setup would run cooler? with the 4s i would get more runtime, but the 5s i will get more power. if I can get a nice 4s setup for considerably cheaper, i will have no problem with the power. But if it's not much more, then why not? Don't know how many mm/kv motor to run on the setups. With 5s i will probably run the MMM, but the Hw150 is still up for grabs.

If you gear for the same speed you will have the same total draw. Personally I would stick to the 4s setup with the cheaper esc. It is just a buggy, not much tire/wheel weight there. Plus you do not really want a big heavy lipo in there, will just upset the balance and cause more draw and heat from the weight.
Plus 4s will be cheaper than 5s, both esc and lipo. I would get a medusa 60mm 2200 motor and a 4s 5000 25c lipo. A decent power supply and charger are a good investment for electric, maybe put some money towards that first.

4s sounds good to me! I already have the Novak black box power supply and triton 2 charger, so I am good there. You sure 2200 kv is high enough? I was looking at the CC neu motor that was 2650.

The school computers have youtube blocked out, but I know that the 2650 hauls. I am just wondering if the 2200kv will also be fast? Temps are important, so i guess that would work.
I think i have mysetup.
Hw80 amp esc
Zippy 25C 5000mah lipo
Medusa 60mm 2200kv motor
RCM mount
RCM battery tray

There is always the 2300kv 70mm medusa. Only $10 more, but is it worth it?

If it is only 10 bucks i would go with that. The longer motor will handle the load better, and temps will be better too.

Alright. What about just going balls out with the 80mm? it's not THAT much more, and if it runs cold. temps are important.
and anyone know how the hw80 will run???

I think the 80mm is a bit overkill. That and you may want to go up to a MMM, not sure how much more power the 80mm will produce. I am figuring the 80 amp model can handle a 7xl (rcm mike has this) so it should do the 70mm motor with reasonable gearing. The 80 mm may have too much torque and blow the tires off too easily and the startup current draw will be more.

Alright well since I only want to do this once... what about a MMM esc, 5s, and a 80mm? I am just thinking for $20 more, i could get a better setup that would run cooler and be funner to drive. Well now i am all confused... I want the setup to run cool, and i don't want it to be putting my esc in jeopardy.

Over $240 might work... p.m. sent.
i either want a 4s setup or a 5s. I just need to price the two... it's hard because i want to run the 70mm on 4s, but then the esc becomes the weak link...

The MMM is a better esc than the hw80, it is more like a MM. If you plan to push some power having a better esc is always a good thing...
