It appears that Castle has made a few trade-offs with regards to quality in an effort to meet demand and keep pricing low. Maybe its just minor stuff...but I noticed the quality of wire and the solder joints were not as good as earlier models. I hope the MMM doesn't follow that approach. BTW...I also have a few Mamba 25s and I noticed similar deficiencies there. Has anyone else seen this? What are your thoughts?

I havent seen that but I sure can see what you are talking about, meaing I understand why that might happen. Castle's business has doubled in the last year, and they are most likely very busy, and would rather just produce them cheap and fast, then repair later down the road. Of course they probably don't plan on it, but they are probably aware of it.

Perhaps they found another manufacturer/assembler and it's more of a coincidence than a cost down solution.

It seems to me that the first series of MM had "better" quality of wire. You know the wet noodle stuff that Novak and Quark uses. I no longer have the older MM so I might be wrong. It just seems that when I opened up the box of my new MM escs, they felt cheap in comparison to what I remember from my first purchase. It might be me too. In the interim I had purchased the Quark and the HV Maxx and maybe I just got used to working with those units....however, I don't usually miss the details like that.
I guess it doesn't matter as long as the product performs as well as it always has.

I don't know about better wires and such, because I replace the stock wires with 12 gauge before I even install my MMs. I can say this tough, of the five mamba maxes that I do have, the very first two that I got when they were first released are the only ones that will run 5S. The other three that I got in the last few months won't do 5S.

That is very interesting AAngel. I guess CC just took more time on there products when they weren't as widely known...

Could it be a firmware / software issue- the newer MMs being deliberately incapable of 5s so people are less likely to cook them?...

Not that then. There must be a difference in components used somewhere, but if some people bought the original models and they wouldnt do 5s either.... pass. Next question.

I think, like been mentioned, that they assemble them in house but out source the boards and got a better price on slightly lower quality

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

i was told by a guy at my LHS that talks to castle a good bit, asked em about the MMM the guy at castle told him that the reason it isnt out yet is because they cat make the motor match the spedo and the weight of the truck. i dont know if there is any truth in that but its a possibility

Im thinking that means the system is over powered, and they're trying to find a motor that can tone it down a bit- must be really something special compared to an XL setup.... I still say all they need to do is reprogram one of their plane/boat speedos to have reverse & adjustable brakes, surely it cant be that hard can it?....

Overpowered?:032:
If that is the case, they should just release it and let me worry about toning it down. LOL
