I was also planning on waiting for the MMM. But finally decided to go with the MM from everyone telling me to.... and I didn't regret it. It works great on 4s with a UBEC. I am not scared any more of possibly frying it. I think it will run strong for me for a long while.

it is a very solid esc, I still run mine in 1/10 apps. Just needed something stronger and more efficient that MM in the MT and 4pole motor area
Work because i gotta, play because i wanna
People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

I mean its a great esc, always does great when pluged in and despite some programming problems (v2.23 castle link software) it has never let me down

what type of programming problems? as i strated before i am a total noob to this Bl setup. and does the v2.23 castle link come with the ESC?
i mentioned this to one of the guys at my LHS and he tod me that i would be looking at some major over heating problems, is this true and could it be fixed with a fan of some sort? i do have a rather large fan out of a powersupply but it is prolly to big, maby some 40mm style ones.

Don't listen to anyone telling you about how to run brushless, unless you are sure that they know what they are talking about. The LHS is usually the worst place to get brushless advise, especially when it comes to large scale.
The Mamba Max is a good controller. Just don't try to make it do what it doesn't want to. Don't go over 4S lipo. Some will do 5S, but that is pushing it. Stick with two pole motors. The MM doesn't like four pole motors.
If it starts to run a bit hotter than you'd like, try a fan. Fans are good for dropping the temps a bit, but are not a fix or overgearing situations.

A 2 pole motor has one norht pole & one south pole on the rotor magnet, whilst a 4 pole has 2 norths & 2 souths, IE: north-south-north-south. This means the esc has to work twice has hard to make the motor rotate, but I believe this equals a much smoother motor & less cogging, or something to that effect. The programming is different for a motor with more poles since the esc has to do extra work to get it to rotate, and since the MM motors are all 2 pole jobbies, the MM esc doesnt like 4 pole motors. Castle is ment to be releasing a programming fix for this issue but it is unlikely to happen until after the MMM is for sale, other wise people could run the brilliant Neu motors on the MM, so wouldnt need the MMM unless they wanted an insanely powerful/fast system.

thanks. i am still going to have to save my pennies to get a system. but all of this positive ressurance i am getting from you guys is exxalent. makes me rethink the parts list i had made up. you did however mention cogging, would i run into this problem with 12or 14 sanyo 2400 nicd cells? i know i know i need to have nimh but these were a gift a while back but i didnt have any thing to put them on.

The Feigao is a two pole motor and running the MM with the 10XL on 4S lipo, won't give you the fastest setup, but it will be dependable and torquey. It would do nicely in a monster truck with big tires on it.

cogging isnt so much to do with powersource, more about gearing & running at quite low speed, since the esc has trouble 'knowing' where the rotor is.
