The 80mm will have more torque provided that your ESC and batts are capable of putting out enough amperage. It would be interesting to put my 70mm (2000KV) motor in my Muggy with the same pinion and see what kind of difference there would be. I ran a 24T pinion at first just to see how insane it could get but I'm running a more conservative 16T now. If I can get a cameraman I'll try to get some video of it, it powerslides very nicely and busts through several inches of snow. As long as I don't high-center it on the snow it can blow through.

EDIT: Did you do anything to the Center Diff? The first thing I did after stripping the nitro crap off when I bought mine was pull the CD and put 30K fluid in it. I can still wheelie and it balloons the front wheels as it does it but it really helps to make it 4wd instead of FWD If you get the 80mm you'll probably also want to oil up the front diff, I can unload mine pretty easily and will probably get some 10K for it to hook up through on-power cornering.

All I ever wanted was an honest weeks pay for an honest days work.

I put 30k in the center, 10k in front an 7k in the rear. I also have a robinson racing 48spur in the center. I'm thinking of replacing that one with a 45t losi 8ight spur, or just the stock 46.

I was geard pretty conservative on my first run, 11/48. That's because I wasn't sure how the 60mm would handle the muggy. Larger pinions are on the way. Right now I have my muggy set up with a mega acn 22/45/2 and am wating for the outside temps to rise (freezing here right now, and already broke rear arms bc of that and my crappy driving).

EDIT: I also replaced the plastic diff housings with losi alu ones.

Why the RRP spur? The stock one is free and seems tough as nails so far. Your diff setup should handle the power nicely. It's freezing here too, but that has never stopped me before I finally managed to break my tricked-out Rustler the other night...-40 degrees and a full speed impact with a car trailer and all I broke was a camber link

As you can tell I wasn't burdened with an over-abundance of common sense, I love to run my RCs and I'm not letting mother nature tell me no

I bought a used muggy, and the spur looked pretty beat up. As I wanted to start conservatively, I got the RR spur. Wasn't sure how heavy the muggy would be after the conversion to brushless. But now I know, and am going back to stock as soon as I get a new spur.

What kind of temp are you guy getting on the ecs. I have the medusa 36-50 4800 the motor hasn't got above 90 but my mamba max esc. gets 135 to 150. My max amp 2s 6500 battery only get about 85. This is in a slash geared 23/83. Very impressed with this motor.

You don't have anything to worry about with those temps. 4 polers work the esc harder, so that's probably the source of your heat. I'd only be concerned if the ESC is going over 200.

Has anyone recieved one of the new 70mm afterburners? If so what are your thoughts, a comparison to the Neu 1515 would be great.

Nice peak power. :)
Average amps even lower on the 20min timeline than on the first one minute.
Also it runs pretty cool. About same temp as battery. Less than 100F. Ill check temps more when i go drive next time.

4S zippy 5000mAh, 1/8 buggy, MMM, 2300kv 70mm Medusa.

The neu and medusas of similar spec will perform in a similar fashion I imagine- not enough users to give a definitive answer really. For the money, a 70mm medusa would perform as well as you need it too if the setup is good (gearing/voltage/kv choice). Suck it an see as us Brits say...

I would say for the money the Medusa will perform better, since I can buy 2 for the price of one Neu!
