Well, I am also interested about those setup..maybe once the finish making the fix they would tell us...

IMHO, I still think its more of the design of MMM rather than setup...well at least for my case...my second MMM is still running unmodded..out-of-the-box...same truck same battery but this time I used UBEC like when I was running the truck on MM....

Hopefully CC will tell us or will completely fix it...once V3 will be release I will have reason to send my 2 MMM...save on shipping them both...

After thinking about it, it would be insanely creepy and probably illegal to post a .wav file of a telephone recording.

Where I'm from is a 2 party, assumed state which means both parties need to know they are being recorded, unless it's assumed (police/fire.) I'm not sure this was the case when I was on the phone.

I'm sorry for even suggesting I would post a call.

I wouldn't mind if the new MMM case didn't have a Fan cover. Just cut that part of the case off and screw a fan into the headsink instead similar to the Losi 1/8 ESC

Hello, any news about a potential V3 serie?
It seems there is problems when we use the BEC of the controller, with Ubec or RX pack it seems it doesn't burn.

Told ya guys before, we can't stop here, THIS IS BAT COUNTRY!

(sorry, couldn't resist... another member has a Hunter Tompson avatar too)

as for your question, sadly there have been cases where UBEC equipped MMM died... but fortunately very few so far.

Hello,

Yes it's a bad country, too much bat !! Here we go .

Thanks for your reply about the burnt MMM even with Ubec, I wasn't 100% sure ... There is a little problem with this MMM, I think it's a good thing for me to have a delayed order ...I'll probably wait a litlle before placing my order, I let C/C some months to reply to my e mails ....

Haha thats rich - "the setups are damaging the controller"

more like the controller is damaging peoples setups!

My setup has worked with 4 different ESC's, the MMM was the only one that
didn't like it.

At least they have sent me a $0 invoice for my modded failed MMM, so I'll call it even
for the servos the MMM took with it.

I think 6s set ups are damaging the controller....everyone still thinks its ok to run 6s neu 1515 1y combo's with the thing. Everyone wants the worls fastest e revo and only wants to spend 150.00 for their esc...lol.

Respectfully, I disagree (not trying to bash you here). Castle *recommend* 6S with the 1515 1Y, and will have designed the controller to take the current with that kind of voltage. I don't think anyone's even managed to thermal a Monster yet, anyway...most of the catastrophic failures (flames) have been fairly random. They could even be a minor software glitch; maybe, for whatever reason, something's confusing the software momentarily, causing it to send incorrect commands to the FET controllers (or whatever controls the FETs), and poof; flames. They did say they're releasing a new software revision, afterall.

It's all just speculation right now, but I can't see that just running the controller perfectly within spec is causing the issues. 6 months ago it would have been expensive to get this kind of reliable power (assuming the MMM will be reliable with V3), but technology just becomes cheaper.

I personally think there are a few issues:

1: People running 6s setups AND high KV motors AND geared too high. That combination pulls too much current on startup.

2: The BEC is too prone to problems. While they're designing it, they should also add some catastrophic failure circuit to the BEC output. Would still cause the ESC to fail, but at least your servo(s) and receiver would be saved.

3: Case is a poor design. IC/parts contact the bottom, throttle/switch wires could be chafed on the case, and (on V2) the bullet connectors are much too close to the heatsink. Also, if they insist on leaving the fan, allow it to be replaced without having to take the case apart.
