WOW. Tranny, slipper, braced motor and some really short Lipos. That looks pretty good. At least it's a bit different and not just a conversion which people have been complaining about.
No mechanical brakes though.
What's the build quality like on the himoto cars? I'm cautious now as I was building a lesser know brand buggy for a friend and lets just say I won't be buying one. I won't name the brand though.
Savage: FLM Conversion, 6s, MMM, CC 1520.
Mini-T Pro: Micro Pro 6800kv, Lipo, HS-81mg, Dirt Hawgs
M18MT: Quark 33A, Y22S 6000kv, FP 2s Lipo
LRP S8-BX: RC-M Conversion, Tekin RX8 B1600KV, 6S.

I really have to get my buggy back from mike before all these buggies start turning up on the track or I am going to look a bit silly.

those are really short lipos! great idea imo. lets see if its tough enough to handle the abuse of owners. looks really good though. best thing is, the weight should be very central and pretty even... those lipos look a bit small though. (2s each?)

They look like 4s or 3s packs to me. One of the shots shows they are fairly tall packs.
edit: 3s packs going by the balance tab.

I wonder what the specs on the motor are. The lipos are 3s, so the motor will heat up quickly, and is probably equivelant to abouy a 7 or 8l feigao.

Maybe the packs are to be run in series and it's a 6s motor.

If I'm not mistaken, Himoto is OFNA(USA brand), so quality is very good. It looks to be an x1x or x2 cr.

You're probably thinking of Hobao or Hong Nor. But yes, this does look like a Jammin' buggy (X1CR with the big bore shocks?).
So they're using a big motor with ~2100mah cells (could be 2p for ~4200mah), and a weird gear reduction unit. It's different than most, no doubt. But then again, so am I:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...r/IMG_4290.jpg
Those were two different buggies I converted with that same chassis configuration, and both used 8 Maxamps 2100mah 15C cells in 4s2p (14.8v 4200mah).
Notice there's not much room for an ESC, especially a MMM...

No, your thinking of Hobao or Hong Nor. Can't remember which one it is in Australia. If OFNA/Jammin/Hobao/Hong Nor and what ever else they are called just had one name, I would probably be more interested in their kits. People whine about Losi using imperial screws which I don't really see that big of a problem with but a company with 4 + names seems more of a pain in the arse
