Rummy's Yota Truggy - 10.30.2008, 03:53 PM

I've been in and out of crawling and have recently been bit by the bug again. Had to slap a truck together to run in a comp a few weeks ago. So put together this truck. Didn't have the tube bed done yet so used a normal bed to be comp legal.

Bruiser's First Run

After the comp I tore it down and started building what I wanted in the first place. First I ditched the original bruiser cab since I knew I'd be beating on this truck and started work with a hilux cab.

Did some trimming up front to make room for the new bumper.

Been hacking away at some styrene for a while now. Since it's gonna be a truggy you'll be able to see the back of the cab. Thought I'd put some detail into it. Used a photo I found online of a 1:1 and just mimicked that.

Set in place to see what it looks like. I'll smooth it out all out after the panel is attached to the cab.

I was pretty pleased with the leaf springs in the comp. I needed a bit more to keep it stable though. So I decided to try a 3/4 elliptical setup. Seems like it could work out pretty good. Time and tuning will tell. I used a single bruiser spring up top. Only weight on the truck in this photo is the cab and tranny. Wheels aren't weighted.

Took a few minutes to mount the fair lead

Just got done making a drop down tranny plate out of 1/8" ABS.
