Gearing for Losi 8IGHT on 5S w/ CC 2200 or Neu 1512 2.5D -

Hello everyone,
I'm reworking my brushless Losi 8IGHT, and I couldn't find the answer to my exact question by searching, so I'd like your recommendations.
I have 2 motors available, the Castle 2200 kV---which is base on the Neu 1515/1Y, right?---and a Neu 1512/2.5D. From what I've read, most people consider the 1515 to be too big for a buggy and think the 1512/2.5D (2000 kV) is a better choice. Is that correct?
Also, and more importantly, what gearing would you recommend for bashing on a 5S 5000-mAh battery?
For what it's worth, I'm using the Losi conversion kit, which limits my gearing choices a bit.
Thanks for your help.
Michael
Losi 8IGHT, MMM, 5S, Nomadio Sensor, Motor and Gearing TBD.
im gonna run a 2200kv MMM motor and 5s lipo in my hyper geared 14/46 and i should get it up just above 60mph and should have cool temps...
5s on 2200kv puts you at 40480rpm which is like perfect
i wouldnt use the other nue motor, id stick witht he 2200 if you want it to be faster and crazy for bashing :) altho it probably would be a huge difference, only 200kv
The 1515 series of motors can be run in the 8ight (thats what i used to run) people just say that the 1512 is better suited for a buggy b/c it's smaller and lighter BUT either motor works esp, if you're just bashing....i'd say for racing get the 1512..for bashing and insane speed runs get the 1515...just remember that you're batteries have to be good esp. if you're gonna be bashing with 5s 5000mah's.....you can shoot for 60mph like dirtfreak but IMHO anything above 50-55mph is waaaay uncontrollable at least for me it is....and if you do gear for 60mph make sure you're batteries are capable of pulling that current...sooooo...for racing i'd go with the 1512...for bashing go for the 1515...for the best of both i'd say the 1515 (more gearing options)....and i'd shoot for 40-45mph for racing and 50mph+ for bashing....just use the gearing calculator in the above post :) hope this helps!
I went to a wide open parking lot with my CC 2650 on 5s geared 14/46 in my 8ight (geared for 58 mph). It took 50 amps to maintain top speed, and temps never got above 150 during the run. I'm probably not going to to do this again any time soon because the the center of my slicks got worn down into a groove, there was so much tire balooning. I'm pretty sure you will not have to worry about temps with the the 2200 geared with a 17 tooth or less. If you want more reasonable/usable power, stick with the 1512 2.5D or else gear the 2200 down.

The Losi spur is 45 tooth. The Losi motor mount will only let you use a 45. This does limit your gearing choices. Also the Losi buggy diff's are 40/13 not 43/10 like the truggy. 43/10 would be best for the track, I would think 40/13 would produce higher top speed, 43/10 more bottom punch. Mine with the 1512/2.5/D is a rocket on 4s geared anywhere from 12-16 pinion's but gets hot no matter what pinions I use. Think I will try 10-12 on 5s and see how temps are. Probably for the track 43/10 for the diffs's would be best also.
