Connector Decision - 06.24.2009, 09:29 PM

I currently have 6.5mm castle bullet connectors, they are nice, big, but they do not fit my 10awg wire very well, they arent big enough. anyway i was thinking about these connectors here. Will these work? I like the casing around them. and the price is right. I want to stick with bullet type connectors, but also want them to fit the higher AWG wire. My turnigy pack is 8 AWG and would like something similar to this but that would fit both my 10awg and 8awg wiring.

Flightmax 4mm Bullet connectors (1 set)
An excellent replacement for Deans T-connectors!
Good for wire up to 10AWG thickness.
High amp rating.

If your having a hard time getting 10ga in a 6.5mm bullet good luck finding anything that'll be easier! IMO 8ga just isn't needed unless your trying to run a 10,000+kv motor on 1s 8000mah+ and trying to break a speed record to boot! Even 10 gauge is to big for my liking. Increase voltage, decrease amp draw and run 12ga. 12 gauge fits in connectors much easier and bends easier and in the long run just looks cleaner IMHO. I actually had LincPimp take the 10ga off my NeuEnergy packs and put 12 on them.

That connector you linked to will have issues fitting more than a 12 gauge wire.

well what would be a good cover or jacket to use on the 6.5mm castle bullets? right now i have shrink wrap on it as far as i can, then i will wrap in electrical tape, then zip tie to make sure its all snug. If not a jacket then a better connector.

The Losi EC5 plugs fit 10 gauge wire on the MMM easily. They are very substantial plugs, probably overkill really.

I'm going to use 6mm bullets from HC, they're very cheap (12$ for 10 pairs IIRC). They will handle all the current you need, and they fit 10AWG. Not sure about 8AWG, but I believe so. You could check the mini-reviews on the HC site, and look at the dimensions there to check if 8AWG fits...

Its been my experience that the Hobbycity dimensions are a little off. I was looking for something more like the LOSI EC5 connectors. thoughts?
