Assembly question - 03.09.2010, 10:58 AM

Hey guys, was trying to assemble the slipperential last night and had a problem where the pin for the drivecup would not fit once the bearing/shim were in place on one side of the diff (the one that goes through the diff from the slipper side)

looks to me like there's not quite enough clearance. Have i assembled something backwards or is this just some fettling that needs doing ? I've tried the cups from the hyper st and the ones that came in the kit.

I did notice that the instructions say to put the pin through a hole, which is not there in the diff casing ?

Is it simply a matter of sanding the surface down to get enough clearance ?

Chris,
I think you may have received a faulty end cap - we had a batch that wasn't properly machined in this area that we pulled out of inventory, but it looks like one escaped the shop here!
Regarding the pin - I install the inner drive pins before installing the diff cup so no hole is needed. :)

hmm ok, so I'm ok to just sand it down until it fits then ?

I will gladly send you a correct cap - you could try to sand the one you have down, but it is important to get it smooth and true in the process (best if done on a lathe).
