User operated fan (or other)

I'm not convinced my fan on the mmm is coming on when it needs to. The previous unit the fan would come on regularly, my ir gun would read 40-45C through the side. Now i get readings 50C+ but no fan. I know it works cause it spins when the mmm is turned on.

Anyway I did some searching and found the NERS and MERS switchs. I don't have telemetry but I reckon this would be a good accompanyment if you have enough channels in the reciever.

I don't know if these are old hat but thought you might like to know if you didn't and if you did know then could you share your experience. I haven't ordered one yet.
