Lipo connection question

Hey guys,

I've got a MMM with a Y-harness that I previously used for my E-revo.
I now use it in my Hyper, and have bought a single lipo.

My question is, how should I hook it up to my MMM? The lipo has one dean on it, the MMM has two.

I tried getting a spare dean and solding up the end (to complete the circuit), but when I hooked it all up, the servo worked fine but the red light on the MMM just flashed, and there was no throttle. Is there like a 'soldered dean' that you can buy readymade?

Another thought is that I just make another Y-harness and connect them up, but this is just adding more wires which will drain more power from the lipos.

Connect the two wires from the MMM to a single deans connector (get rid of the two deans and wire between them).

Next time resize your pictures. Also do what is said above, change one connector to two.

I don't know why your jumper dean is not working. (it's got enough solder on it) Does the MMM still work the old way, with two lipos plugged in?

You gotta get some better pics, even by the looks of these, the solder joints don't look so hot, you must be a beginner at soldering?

yeah I'm useless at soldering. How can you tell i'm bad, the only solder you can see is on the jumper dean.

Also, I do run 2 lipos in series still, thats why i've still got the Y-harness, so I don't want to get rid of it entirely, just adapt it for the new lipo

Maybe the metal tab(s) inside the deans plug got misaligned and arent making contact anymore when you plug it into the harness from the esc? You could test by just shorting across one of the male plugs with a bit of wire and plugging the batt into the other, then see if the esc will arm..

When I plug it all in using the jumper dean, the receiver powers up and the steering servo works fine, lots of power. The MMM doesn't make the power-up tone, and just has a red light flashing, and no throttle or anything.

I just checked the MMM Faq and there's nothing about a blinking red light on its own...

Does it still connect with the Castle Link? I thought the red blinking light was "wrong # of cells set" or something like that. Is the single pack you want to use the same voltage as the 2 series packs you were using? If not, hook it up to the CL and change the LVC setting and see if that helps.

Yup, same number of cells, same voltage.

Funny you should mention castle link, it hooks up fine, but when I tried to upgrade to newer firmwares, it won't work and always fails to update right at the end. Don't think the two are connected though

Well, I just spent ages making a really nice Y-harness, hooked it all up and theres the same problem as before. The servo works perfect but the MMM doesnt power up, and just has a dim flashing red light.

I'm gonna post a question in the Castle Creations section of the forum about my problem

No tones = no power being sent to the motor to generate the tones ( the esc pulses current to the phases out of sequence to make them buzz basically ). Check your motor connections and maybe swap some wires around/ make sure the rx plugs are all in the correct way around?
