I have a novak receiver. It has an optional bec port and a battery pack came with my transmitter. I think i would like to use it, but not sure how as i have never had to. As you guys more than likely know, i have my 10xl/9920 on it's way and would like some advice on this and how to hook it up. Also maybe on batts to use as i think the batt pack is suppose to use AA's?

If you want to use a BEC or your reciever pack that came with your transmitter,you would have to take out the Black Jumper on your ESC, it is behind the red one, you will have to cut some of the shrink wrap to get to it.

Also, i may be confused here. The battery box that came with my transmitter, is that the same as a bec? Because it looks like it just would plug into the reciever?

Sorry about all the questons, but here's another. Is a ubec the same as bec? I found one on ebay...and it looks like it would connect like the diagram above. nothing like the battery pack that came with my transmitter.

OK, i think i got it. A ubec eliminated the unit that came with my transmitter so they are seperate things. Would you need to charge the ubec? or just connect to batts?

there is a ubec on ebay that says it's 3 amps. mike has one for 6v. What's the diff in the two? I know i'm sending these ?'s in boom, sorry. I'm just anxious to have it all right before i install. Thanks guys!!!!

A BEC (battery elimination circuit?)negates the need for a seperate reciever pack/6v battery,by taking voltage from the main batteries and converting it to 6v.Basically they save weight (100grams or so) and mean you don't have a seperate reciever pack to charge.

Most escs have a built in BEC but it's best not to use it especially above a certain voltage as they cause extra stress and heat for the controller,so that's where an external BEC device like the UBEC comes in.Controllers that don't have a built in bec are called opto-coupled (i think).

The ubec takes place of the bec in the controller or the battery pack you got with controller. You wire it up like the diagram fusion supplied. You don't need to charge it cause it converts the volt from the batts to a consistant 6v unless the voltage in batteries are less.

Ok, so is the one on ebay, i think coolhand said he has it, that should be fine? I was thinking though going with the one Mike has, just because i don't think he would sell something that was unreliable, and it would be a foresure thing. For me now, it's a money issue between the two also....thanks guys

Until I can get a ubec, can i use the receiver pack? It takes 4 AA batteries, will this be enough?

I alomost forgot. right now i'm running 14 cell ib3800's. PS MY MOTOR AND COMTROLLER CAME!!! WITH THE SLIPPER AND MALE ENDS...THANKS MIKE!!! THAT WAS FAST!

instead of cutting away the shrink wrap on the controller...to pull away the black jumper...why don't you just pull the center wire out of the plug coming from the controller.....that's what I did along time ago....and I run a seperate rx pack to controller the servo's ect......and I've never had a problem......also this way is alot easier than removing the black jumper.....
