CRT.5 front arms - 03.26.2011, 09:01 AM

So I broke a front upper control arm on my CRT.5. The way it broke was 100% driver error.

Does anyone make a upgraded arm for the CRT.5? Other than the ones that Mikes sells, I can't see spending $175 right now eventhough I'd love those arms.

Has anyone used another plastic arm off of another vehicle?

Also, how do I get the upper arm off?

Thanks for the help,
Nick

You remove one of what is holding it on. Either the shock tower or the rear upper-arm-holder-brace-thingy.
As for arms, the SCRT10 has the same arms, if that helps you find them cheaper on ebay :) (or maybe upgrades)

Do you have a link to someone that will work?

Thanks for the help, I've obviously never had the front end apart and it seemed different than my other vehicles.

Thanks for the tip about the SCRT10 I will look into those.

Thanks everyone,
Nick

Does anyone make a full kit to do this or will I have to piece together all of the parts?

Is this the PBS suspention that OFNA sells?

Thanks,
Nick

These guys sell a Jammin front arm set for $24. http://www.bartspartsrc.com/products.html

I asked about rear arms and they said "they are coming." Maybe if enough people ask about them they will come sooner.

I haven't tried these arms because I want to just buy a full set when the rears are available. If you do buy the fronts, let us know how they work out.

Here is a little update.

I ended up replacing the front plastic upper suspention arms with a set of these Traxxas turnbuckles. They are almost the exact size out of the package.

I had the truck out today running around a construction site and everything held up well.

Ok, I replaced the upper arms as well as the steering links. So I figured i would share some pics. I was sick of the upper arms bending at the tiny turnbuckle, or breaking at the same point. I was also sick of the steering links popping off, or breaking the balls(lol)

I tested this setup pretty hard and its holding up extremely good. Best Part is it only cost about $14 total :D I used Traxxas TRA3644 for the Upper Arm, and TRA2444 for the Steering Links. Both are the perfect size, I didnt even have to adjust them. If anyone wants to do this and want instructions let me know, there are a few things you have to mod, but not much. Took me about 15 mins.

This will also work on the SCRT10

Excuse the dirt, I didnt have time to clean her after the test runs.

There's really not much to this mod. Remove the front upper arms and replace with the Traxxas turnbuckle and adjust length. Same goes for the steering turnbuckle. I've found the upper arms are almost the exact length that they come out of the package.

Good luck,
Nick
