Question Wich 1:5 for Brushless - 11.06.2011, 07:33 PM

What do you think wich is best 1:5 scale to convert it to Electric?

Maybe a fact i would mostly bash on BMX track, but aslo a friendly race from time to time.

lehner + CatFighter on 10 or 12S.

I was thinking one from these:

- Hurrax Pyrat 4WD
- Hurrax Toxic 4WD
- FG Baja 4WD
- Leopard 4WD
- TB III

-should i be converting MT ?

I know Hurrax are among the heaviest 1:5.
Weights aprox: 15kg with gas motor

I like FG do to the fact it is got no ceter dogbones, wich means a lot of space for electric stuff. Weights aprox: 13kg with gas motor.

TB II, III, well dont know much about it but i read they could build it better.
TB II Weights around 12kg with Gas motor.

So minus 5kg for the weight of the Gas motor. I am also looking a bit on weight, but i ques i could go for biggest lehner there is in case of a heavier car.

Locals here say i should go for Leopard 4 or TB, also got 2 mails from Germany stating FG Leo 4 would be there choise.

Diferent prices, upgrades, diferent cars... what would you pick up and why?

Just a thought - why do you want to do it?
If the build is more why rather than what the end product is, then buy the cheapest as you will probably (going by your last build) replace all the crap stuff with new anyway or custom. That way you are not wasting money on the original purchase.

You could also buy relevant parts and do a scratch build using the best parts from each of the others available?

I would like to have the money and time to do such a thing but, alsa do not. I will follow this with interest.

Both, build and the final product.
Last...hmm..got a saying for that word :) English is not my language but...
"Last will be, before i die" :)

On some other forum i saw FS thread about FG 4WD Marder kit, never used.
Might go and pick it up and than go slowly from there. The price aint bad.

It maybe look good but i think that about it. Toxic shocks system is same as Formula F1...good for onroad.
It did not prove it self in Germany on track.
Desinged in Germany made in China. I think it is 7075.

XB-E it looks ok, but i think not and there are few reasons:
- poor support in EU if any.
- would need to sell electronics because of the the 6S limit (this aint no big deal).
- Dont like how items(motor, lipos) are placed in the truck (limited with motor lenght, bigger motor leads to bad weight distribution).
- one buyer i can buy it from, wants 7oous for xb-e and 9oous for shipping ,on top of that i got 20% Tax to pay as item is not bought in EU.

All that maybe wouldnt matter that much if i could get it for 7oous, but i can not.
Maybe "HK Xbe" but for now they do not ship international, available only in AUS.

I would like to see/have esc that is capable more than 8S.
Is 1717 rated for 8S? I think it is not. 45,ooo RPM limit?
Will go with "Lehner motoren" i think. Have a few Castle motors (and i am happy with them) but only had one Leny :)... i so miss the way it while under the throttle. But electronics later..

Here my old video E-Savy, Lehner 1940/7 paired with Castle MMM.

Hi Knez, i just finished converting my FG baja comp 4wd. It is not an easy build. There is not a lot of room between the motor and the radio plate. ther is a company in germany here is a link to their site http://www.onefive.de/shop/

My self i would have done a leopard but when i bought my Baja the new leopard had not come out yet.

I am using a Leopard 5692 motor and castle hydra Ice HV on 8-12s

I have only finished it yesterday and not had a chance to run it yet. If you design your own mounts for the motor you will need to remember to raise the motor higher than the center line of the lay shaft or it will hit on the rear belt tensioner housing. Also be careful how you make your battery tray. You will need to mount your motor and than pick your batteries according to the amount of space available.

Let me know how you go

Hi SV6000,

Thanky for your inputs and link.
Would be nice, if you could post a picture so i see how u got everything inside.

I was thinking if i go with FG, i could go for custom motor mount, i know it has to be above the "FG center drive belt" but thing is FGs got so low there center drive belt it shouldnt be a problem. ALso servo plate i would go for custom one.
So i would have more space for lipos and so on.

Leopard 4 i can only buy new.
I can get this marder kit 4wd for pretty nice price and guy says he throw in onroad tires to. Kit is never used.

Your picture would help me a lot...

In that case go for the Marder kit. I used the existing radio plate so that if i wanted to i could go back to a gas setup by swapping a few parts. what brake setup are you running. \

I would not run gas or nitro, i use only electric :)

If i would run gas from time to time, i would defenetly go for FG Leopard 4.
Wish there was a Leo 4 kit. Would be perfect!

How do you like your FG baja in general?

Will let you know when i drive it

knez i also have a shulze 8s ESC that i am not using and will not need again if youre interested. I only used it when i was setting up my Revo and decided i needed an ESC capable of 12s so it has only had about 3 runs. At the moment it is just sitting on my shelf collecting dust in a box.

Nothing against FG, as they are built like tanks and the guys who have them always beat the crap out of them without complaint. But in terms of performance the XBE is really on a different level. Think Clodbuster performance as opposed to Emaxx if you will. When rarely allowed to run on the 1/8 track my XBE always darts out in front and can actually get kind of boring to drive because I can't hear it whizz by with three other gassers running out there. Carson also has their own version of it for support in Europe: http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/topic/10...lectric-buggy/

I know I sound like a salesman for this car and of course I'm not. Just very happy with the performance and the price for something of this size. It isn't stock, but for the cost of converting a FG or Baja you'd still get a much better car (again, in my opinion) for far less $$.

Could you make a picture of the car internal stuff so i see how did you place it all on the plate?
I ment how do you like your FG baja when u had it gas..in general i ment.

Well the thing is i got like two 8S esc Castle MXL. Well not at the moment, but i will have it soon as i send it back to Recall as Castle wanted. So basically i will need 12S + Esc in case i go higher dont wanna buy esc all the time.
So FighterCat should be perfect for 10S or more. But electronics later =)

But you can send me the price and pictures to P.M. maybe my friend takes it ;)

Hi Knez, ran the car for the first time today, very impressive. I am running a Mamba XL (My hydra has thrown in the towel before i ever got to turn a tyre) Thunder power 4s 65c packs for 8s and Leopard 5692 730Kv. Looked at the data and had very little volt drop a maximum of 192 Amps and 5625 Watts. This thing is as quick as my 1521 powered truggy on 6s
Will post some photos late tomorrow
