Ofna GTP2E build question - 03.22.2012, 10:34 PM

In a few days I'm going to building a Ofna GTP2E as a basher/speed run car. I will be using a mamba monster ESC with CC cap pack and BEC on from 3s to 6s. The motors that I have at the moment are a CC1512 2650kv CC1520 CC1717 and a Neu 1521 1y. I leaning towards trying the 1717 and a large pinion gear but the 1512 would be easier to gear. What to you guys think?

I would go with the 1717.

That's what I was thinking but the 1520 and 1521 have a higher max RPM and my make gearing easier but a 1717 is proven to do the job and the should run about the same RPM's as the others on 6s

The 2650 gets my vote - fun on 3s and fast oas hell on 6s.

I just put one together with the Castle 2200, MMM 6S lipo and the stock pinion. Its crazy fast. I think the 1717 might be a bit much, considering you want to keep it as agile and light as possible, which is probably why Mike is recommending the 2650.

Got the car built up today lots of fun but need better tires and possibly try to fit a center diff in. Using to 2650 kv motor with a 22 tooth pinion on 3s or 6s.
On 6s its a animal on 3s its lots of fun

Car looks great. Did you use 3m carbon fiber sheet on the body?

I don't know what the carbon overlay is got the car off a member from another rc forum with the body painted and trimmed when I got it but it looks like the carbon wrap it's kind of thick and doesn't scratch very easily

I did a mbx-5 on road conversion and in it I run a 2200cc motor on 5s and it is a lot of fun. Speeds around 50-55. I went with the 2200 due the longer rotor hoping that it would take more abuse and so far it has.

I have most of the electronics out for this pic for servicing

here is a lousy pic with the body

2. MBX-5T 1520, MMM ON 5S
3. MBX-5 ONROAD CONVERSION 1515, MMM ON 5S
4. MRX-3 ON ROAD CONVERSION 1512, MMM ON 6S
5. TEN T 2650 T8, MMP ON 3S

The 2650kv motor runs. nice and cool on 3s a little
warm on 6s I think 4s would be perfect with this. combo when not trying to go Mach 1 :)
Still going to try the bigger motors but the thing on 3s only weighs a little over 8 pounds so lots of torque will cause problems ,fun problems but I'm still going to try
