1/8 setup/racing questions - 08.03.2012, 08:59 AM

ok...been playing with the speed calc for a 1/2 hr or so ( Thanks Brian for this great tool !) and I was wondering to all the racers...When selecting a combo to race with how much emphasis do you put on motor RPM or do you pay more attention to speed for the track or a combo of both.

Reason I ask is I am trying to find as light a setup as I can for my mbx6 and still attain speeds of close to 38-40 while keeping the RPM's down. So, on a 3s 2650kv motor geared 46/18 I should get close to that in speed...according to the calc. the motor is spinning around 26k which is pretty good IMO.

Lately I have been paying a lot more attention to motor rpm on my setup trying to maximize runtime. Before I could care less. This whole thing came about from a recent bash session with my daughter. She has a Ten T with a 3s Tekin 2650kv motor and a mmp setup. I was using my truggy with a 5s 1600kv motor setup and she lasted another 6-7 mins more than me on battery runing side by side. I did some research on speed calc and found her motor was spinning 6K+ less than mine....big difference.

I am still thinking of getting back into racing for the winter...we'll see.

Just looking for opinions and thoughts.
