MT4 G3 Diffs shimmed too tight out of the box? -

Hi,
recently bought a Thundertiger MT4 G3 and looked at the (brand new, out of the box) diffs. It seems they are shimmed very tight between the ring and pinion gear, or atleast tighter than I think is good.
Back in the nitro-days I used to shim diffs so that they were just not binding (or just slightly binding in the tightest spot when the ring gear is not running 100% true).
Now the MT4 G3 diffs are very tight all around, you can feel every single tooth, similar to the feel when turning a brushless motor.
Now I'm wondering why Thundertiger did it this way. Maybe just an assembly error? I don't think so, because the car is assembled pretty well overall and I have read on another forum that somebody's TT Mini WRC (same base car) also had tight diffs.
Or maybe they did to make sure that the diff doesn't strip right away when giving it full-throttle? Compared to my Savage Flux and CEN diffs, the tooth on those gears look pretty wimpy.
Maybe I should shim my Savage diffs that tight also to give it some extra strength?
