Difference Between OFNA buggy Shocks and the UE Shocks -
05.31.2006, 04:21 AM
Can anyone tell me the difference between the OFNA buggy shocks and the UE shocks, they look very similar but i can get the OFNA buggy ones cheaper? Is it possible to run OFNA buggy shocks on the emaxx?

the ue shocks are built on the ofna buggy design. It has little different shafts and are different lengths. The buggy shocks will work on the maxx.

Well the front are shorter and the back are longer. It would depend alot on the stance and shock tower.

UE uses nitride coated shafts.
They are nice, but the same as the ofna's

That almost make's them sound cheap lol.
Actually, the rear shock of a buggy is slightly longer than a racer x shock. Depending on what your going to do with it, you could use those rear shock's and add a little fuel tubing on the inside (under) the piston to stop it going out to far. If you don't do this the suspension will sit to high.

No, I used to own a phaser 4 buggy(simular to the ofna hyper serie's I believe) which shock's where a little longer but weren't nitride coated, just blank steel. Could be an older version though.
Well I wouldn't know why you would want to use these shock's if the ue's are cheaper, unless you got spare's allready.

I believe the UE's are approx 4.5 inches from eye to eye, the buggy's are a tad bit longer, or some are, i know the dominators are for sure. The UE's are adjustable though, not sure about the buggy's. I know my dominator's are not. So I went with UE's...

As best as I can tell, according to his own words at http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/...ore/10120.html , they are actual OFNA Super Shocks adapted slightly to the Maxx application by including the proper standoffs and springs. There may be other differences, but I don't see any other modifications/changes specifically listed and I don't have them to compare.
They are similar in appearance to OFNA 9.5 shocks, but the 9.5 shocks do not have titanium.

UE is a good deal too, i searched ebay a lot for the ofna's, and the price range is, on an average, the same. I would go UE, can't beat it really, unless someone is giving up some, which i beleive there is one set going now...here is the item number....6063407028....just have to wait and see what they go for.
Or, i may have a set of front and rear dominator, with a kit to convert the fronts to make them a longer body, with extra 6mm inserts for the top mounts, that i MAY let go? not sure yet...pm me if you'd like. But also, if you go straight to UE, they have a warranty I'm sure. Many options for shocks....

My UE truck has 8 Kyosho rear buggy shocks. They're really long, but the springs are too soft for an all aluminum truck. A set of eight Special II springs would cost $50, and are only 'medium'. The UEs are lots better. You only need 4, and spring sets are only $17. If you really want regular buggy springs, I'll sell you mine. I was thinking the crawler guys might be interested.
