Gearing question. - 06.13.2006, 06:03 AM

Need to know what gearing I should use on my Maxx.
I have the .21 conversion kit and am using an RB .28 engine.
I am using the spur from a savage (52t that I just stripped) and also have two clutch bells, one 15t and the other is an 18t.
I am looking for more mid range to top speed as the RB has plenty of bottom end anyway.
Any recomendations would be appreciated.
Thanks

Should I replace my stripped 52t spur with another 52? What would happen if I used the 18t?
Thanks.

Not really sure what would happen to be honest. That would seem a little high to me. It would probably just have no take off at all. Theres really no telling though.

With an RB .28 in a Maxx, 15 or 18 are waaaaaaaaay too low

You should be looking at like 22/49 or something (whatever the maxx ratios are)

The RB .28 will have no difficulty eating your maxxs driveline - gear it up a long way (although not too far ;))

What I'm confused about is the 52T spur. They came with a 72 did they not? Or is the 52T mod1?

Thats a valid point. I'm thinking of Revo clutch bells and Savage pinions lol

That said, i would still gear very high. I would actually venture to suggest that an RB .28 is too much for a maxx

The 52t spur came from a Savage that I bought used from a guy. This was the combo that he had in it (52/15) with that RB engine. The 18t cb was an extra that he had given me with the deal.
And yes Tom, I am living on a wing a prayer with that engine and all stock components!:002: :013:
